Robin Gibb: Illegal Downloaders Should Do Prison

From Doug French on Mises:

“It’s about integrity,”  says Robin Gibb.  “Artists deserve a fair share of the profits of their work.”  According to the Wall Street Journal, the former Bee Gees singer thinks those who download illegally should be fined heavily and put behind bars.  Gibb is the president of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers.  He and other European artists want the EU to more strictly enforce copyright rules.  Like for instance,

France has set up an Internet piracy police service that scours the Web for people downloading films and music illegally. It has sent thousands of warnings to suspected intellectual-property thieves, telling them where they can download the items legally and, after three warnings, having their Web access cut off.
